Microsoft will work closely with the Hadoop community and propose contributions back to the Apache Software Foundation and the Hadoop project. For more than a decade, Microsoft has been helping customers unlock business insights in data of all sizes and types, beginning with Analysis Services in SQL Server 7.0 and continuing with new SQL Server 2012 capabilities.
All told, the work of the IBM Bucharest Systems Laboratory will enhance IBM’s virtualization capabilities in its switches, as well as their ability to manage and optimize diverse workloads. IBM monitors 13 billion security events per day in more than 130 countries and holds 3,000 security patents.
IBM Smarter Checkout combines systems, software and services into a technology platform that enables retailers to capture and analyze valuable customer data so that stores can quickly respond to changing customer demand and supplier market conditions. By plugging in real-time basket analytics, a retailer can now offer real-time promotions and relevant offers while the customer is passing through the checkout lane.
