To that end, today Microsoft announced that the Kinect for Windows commercial program will launch early next year, giving global businesses the tools they need to develop applications on Kinect that could take their businesses and industries in new directions.
With this project, social analytics is proving you can find out how a fan is feeling directly from the fan’s mouth, or in this case, Twitter handle, versus relying on what traditional media is telling us the fans are feeling. Many identified their key challenge as the difficulty in analyzing vast quantities of data to extract meaningful insights that can improve products, services and the customer experience.
HP will provide Applications Management while moving much of the legacy applications environment to a private cloud, which will provide a platform for developing, testing and production. As a result, Elders will realize improved applications performance, quality and reliability backed by measurable service levels.
“Honestly, what we know about here at Microsoft is but a tiny fraction of what is actually going on,” said Bill Crounse, a medical doctor and Microsoft’s senior director of worldwide health, referring to medical uses of Kinect. “Everywhere I go in the world – every hospital, college or public health organization, people are already doing something with Kinect or they plan to.”
